Working Hand in Hand
With Our Producers
The Start Box:
the starter kit
for young farmers
At the end of 2019, we held the fifth edition of the Start Box, a support scheme for young people starting out in dairy farming. In addition to financial support, we offer them extra volume if needed.
We run a two-day training session at our Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel and Varennes-sur-Fouzon premises, bringing together several speakers to discuss global, European and French dairy policy, present the company and its strategy, and cover milk quality — all punctuated by visits to the production sites.
The two days end with a convivial evening designed to help young farmers build connections with one another.
Reducing the Carbon Footprint:
Cap’2ER
The LSDH Group cares about the environment and supports producers in adopting the “CAP2’ER” approach, offered at 2 levels:
– Level 1 takes a snapshot of the farm at a given point in time, providing an initial assessment of its carbon footprint.
– Level 2, which goes much further, assesses greenhouse gas emissions, the number of people a farm is capable of feeding, and the hectares of biodiversity it maintains.
Through simulations and technical recommendations, farms can improve by adjusting certain practices. Our goal is for 100% of farms to have completed level 2 by 2023.
