LSDH Supports the Corsican Clementine Sector Alongside Système U and Corsican Farmers

Reducing waste and creating value.

Every year, between 3,000 and 3,500 tonnes of Corsican clementines are processed at the L'Atelier Corse Fruits et Légumes site in Linguizetta.
Until now, these fruits were often thrown away even though they were perfectly good — their only flaw being their size or appearance.
Thanks to this tripartite partnership, these volumes will now be turned into juice, giving farmers a new source of income while significantly reducing food waste.

« Signing an agreement on fruit that we used to leave in our fields because it didn't meet fresh-market standards, and being able to build partnerships around that fruit, first proves that we express the Corsican terroir, and second, that we can secure the future of our farms », explains Vincent Marcadale, a citrus grower partnered with Atelier Corse.
« Of course, the prices aren't the same, but we're talking about fruit we used to throw away… which used to even cost us money. »

A structured, sustainable supply chain

This three-year tripartite agreement brings together:

• 14 Corsican farmers, growing on 120 hectares,
• Terre d'agrumes and L'Atelier Corse Fruits et Légumes, farming and processing partners,
• and LSDH Group, responsible for bottling.

It guarantees farmers visibility, secured volumes and prices that can be adjusted based on their production costs.

« For us, this is an important regional commitment », says Bertrand Morand, head of supply chain partnerships at Système U.
« We want to promote food sovereignty and French farming. This partnership is part of a long-term approach, working on specific, resilient supply chains. »

A commitment at the heart of LSDH's DNA

This initiative builds on LSDH Group's long-standing tripartite agreements in the dairy sector, which have helped strengthen French farming supply chains over the long term.
By joining this initiative, LSDH is once again putting its expertise at the service of:

• food sovereignty,
• showcasing French terroirs,
• and environmentally responsible farming.

The only clementine grown in France, PGI-labelled since 2007, the Corsican clementine celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
