The People Behind Our Milk!

Every year, LSDH Group presents an Excellence Award in each of its three collection areas. Not a leaderboard. Not a ranking. Simply an opportunity to visit farmers who do their job well, with no penalties over the year, and to say thank you. To film them. To tell the story of their daily lives, their choices, what they stand for.
Because being a dairy farmer is a demanding commitment, still too often overlooked, and yet essential to our food.

Here are the three 2025 winners:

West Zone – Sébastien, SCEA de la Neslière

Sébastien set up his farm in 2003 with his father and uncle. He has been an LSDH partner for three years. An entrepreneur and a natural handyman, he notably equipped his barns with water mattresses to improve his cows' comfort. A discreet investment, but one that says everything about his philosophy.

« Every time we do something extra for the animals, they give it right back to us. »

It's with this conviction that he opened the doors of his farm to us. With generosity and straightforwardness.

Centre-Val de Loire Zone – Nicolas and Béatrice

Nicolas set up his farm in 1997, alongside his parents. Béatrice joined him in 2018. They have been supplying milk to LSDH since 2013 and are involved in the “C'est qui le Patron ?! La Marque du Consommateur” initiative.
Last summer, we spent time with them. We talked about their story, their doubts, their relationship with the dairy. About passing the farm on to Baptiste and Mathilde, and what it really means to hand over the reins. About the trade-offs, too. About the sacrifices this profession demands, which are rarely talked about.
This testimony isn't meant to embellish. It's meant to show.

Bresse (Ain) – Le GAEC des Mirtanges, in Bresse

Wilfried, Nicolas, Franck, Marc-Antoine and Nicolas: five partners, five different ways of working, an organisation that holds together because it's flexible and because it relies on one unchanging daily ritual: breakfast together every morning.
Le GAEC des Mirtanges is involved in “C'est qui le Patron ?!” and has made concrete choices for the future: a co-generation micro-methanisation unit since 2018, and a new building soon to be fitted with solar panels. Decisions made for the long term, just like the best relationships.
They deserve this Excellence Award for our Bresse collection area for all of this, and for everything the numbers don't show.

These three videos were produced as part of our initiative to showcase the dairy sector. They reflect our belief that the relationship between a farmer and their dairy is not just a contract. It is built over time, through trust, and through respect for the work accomplished.
